In collaboration with V2_Lab, choreographer Angelika Oei and interactive media artist R.A. Verouden have been testing a fourth prototype of Kurort in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. Kurort is a collection of interconnected spaces designed for a unique interactive experience. On the 8th and 10th of June visitors could participate in Kurort, which takes as its starting point the sensual pleasures of the health spa (Kurort).
In this new interactive version of Kurort, Oei and Verouden proposed to create a space for relaxing the mind and recuperating memory. Kurort has a mind of its own, sensing the presence of each visitor and designed to analyze the information it receives to communicate (more than simply react) in a unique way with each visitor through alternation of the environment, sound, projected image, et cetera. Kurort was structured drawing on theatrical and choreographic methods for composition, generation of narratives and meaning, and energizing space and shaping time.
Kurort is made in collaboration with V2_Lab and co-produced by the Productiehuis Rotterdam. The development of Kurort is part of the international research program of Dance Media Performance Fusions (DAMPF), an initiative of Tanz Performance (Köln), Animax Theater (Bonn), Ars Electronica (Linz) and V2_.
