Semiconductor is artist duo Ruth Jarman & Joseph Gerhardt (UK).

Jarman & Gerhardt produce sound-based films in which they always experiment with the immediate relationship between image and sound. Their work combines digital computer data with analog signals and often has the look and feel of craftsmanship. The elements of chance and system failures are consciously being allowed. The soundtracks are characterized by contradictions, when the music may sound both mesmerizing and violent, both minimal and maximal. Video works for a.o. Christian Vogel, DAT Politics, the musical nights of WARP (UK). Music projects on labels such as Hot Air and Lucky Kitchen. Much of their work was released on the compilation Hi-Fi Rise: Sonic cities from another timeline (DVD/CD-ROM).
