Daan Roosegaarde

Daan Roosegaarde (NL) is an artist, architect and the creative director of Studio Roosegaarde.

Daan Roosegaarde at TEDx

Daan Roosegaarde is a Dutch artist, architect and the creative director of Studio Roosegaarde, an independent artistic laboratory that develops interactive artworks. He studied at the AKI academy of fine arts in Enschede, the Netherlands, and at the Berlage Institute, a postgraduate architecture laboratory in Rotterdam. Roosegaarde's work explores the dynamic relationship between architecture, human beings and new media. His sculptures often reflect collisions of technology with the human body. Within this interactive relationship, Roosegaarde’s work creates situations in which the visitors and the space become one. With the project Intimacy Roosegaarde took his first steps into the world of fashion and wearable technology, using ‘e-textiles’ to create a series of dresses and fashion accessories designed by up-and-coming fashion designers.

Studio Roosegaarde is located in Waddinxveen, the Netherlands. In 2011 Studio Roosegaarde opened a second location in the Jingan District, Shanghai, China.
