David M. Berry is Senior Lecturer in Digital Media at Swansea University. He is interested in the methodological and theoretical challenges of studying digital media, particularly through an approach broadly conceived as cultural political economy. He also has strong research interests in the philosophical and theoretical implications of the work of Heidegger, Kittler, Arendt, Tarde, and Latour.  Berry's research covers a wide theoretical area including culture, political economy, media/medium theory, software studies, actor-network theory, the philosophy of technology, and the computational turn in Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences (Digital Humanities). He is a member of the and the Callaghan Centre for Conflict, Power, and Empire. He writes widely on issues of code and media theory and his work includes Copy, Rip, Burn: The Politics of Copyleft and Open Source (2008) and The Philosophy of Software (2011); he edited Understanding Digital Humanities (2012).
