Jairo Gutiérrez Feut was born in Camagüey, Cuba in 1986. He studied art in the Academy of Visual Arts “Raúl Martinez, graduated from the Visual Arts Department of the ISA University of Arts, in the city of Havana, and studied at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne.
During his studies he took part in different exchange projects like “Mythos, Moderne, Morgen” in 2012 and “SenseLab” in 2009. Some of the most important recent exhibitions in his career are the collective exposition “Las puntas de la Rosa” made in the Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, in Havana City, Cuba, and the exhibition “El extremo de la bala. Una década de arte cubano”, in the Cuba Pavillion in Havana. He participated in the collective exposition “Cluster” in 2010, realized in the Wilfredo Lam Center in Havana.
Outside of Cuba some of the group expositions where he has participated are “Cuban Virtualities. New Media Art From the Island”, held in 2013 at the Koppelman Gallery and Remis Sculpture Court in, Medford, Mass., USA. He was also present in 2012 in the exposition “Architekturteilchen - Modular construction in the digital age”, that took place in the MAKK Museum for Art and Design, in Cologne, Germany.
Some of the most important prices and scholarships in his career are the DAAD Art department Scholarship in Germany, from 2012 until 2014. In 2010 he received the Creation Grant "Antonia Eiriz", of the AHS Organization in Havana. In 2009 he receive the Prize in the category video-installation, in the Festival of Young Art and Literature “Arte+ 2009” in Havana City, Cuba.
