Jon Stam
Jon Stam (CA) is a designer whose focus is on context driven objects, quality craftsmanship, and quiet interactions.
Jon Stam produces objects that frame autobiographical content, while addressing contemporary issues such as the increasing lack of tactility, the need for curation, and ephemeral nature of the digital.
Stam graduated cum laude from the Design Academy Eindhoven with his Curiosity Cabinet, a cabinet series that interweaves both the digital and the physical. Subsequent projects, such as An Imaginary Museum (a digitally hacked View-Master) and Bioscope (a digital movie viewer activated by user interaction), allow for the exploration and development of new digital experiences, and generate connections between new and old, still and moving, 2D and 3D information.
Along side his own practice, Stam has worked as a design researcher at the Media & Design Academy, in Genk (Belgium), coordinated artistic projects for the Contemporary Art Centre Z33, in Hasselt (Belgium), and he is currently teaching at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
Jon Stam takes part in the Summer Sessions 2012, the summer residence at the V2_Lab.
