Karla Spiluttini (AT) is a transmedia artist and researcher.
Karla was born in a tiny village in the mountains of Austria. She later moved to Vienna, where she graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (Masterclass of Transmedia Art) and from the University of Vienna (Media Science).
Since then Karla has been involved in the planning, programming and making of various art pieces, giving workshops on DIY electronics and teaching image and video editing. Her installations and videos have been awarded with the Salzburg Media Art Award (2009) and the Mandala Award of the European Institute for the Media (2004).
The driving force of her artwork is an interest for diffuse spaces that are not entirely graspable at first glance. Thus her process oriented approach is based on taking interesting materials and tweaking them minimally to create slight shifts in perception.
This interest and constant pursue for materials and hands-on tinkering has brought her to V2_ as an Intern for Wearables, and as Video Documentarist from April to July 2012. She was then invited to be a research resident for Wearables in V2_Lab from October to December 2012.
