Maartje Dijkstra

Maartje graduated in Fashion in 2006 at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem, the Netherlands. In 2004 she did an internship at the company of Alexander Mac Queen in London, where her interest in extreme fashion developed more and more..

In 2008 she did her own show at the Amsterdam International Fashionweek, where she proudly presented her collection Illustre Shoe-machine. Illustre Shoe-machine was also seen in the 2008 Montana award show in New Zealand and is now exposed at the World of wearable art (WOW) museum Nelson New Zealand.

Her work is recognizable in the way see makes extreme silhouettes, almost beastly. See also has her own way of creating fabrics by binding wires together and making handmade, spherical illustrations on the pieces, inspired and created by the biggest source of all possibilities -imagination-. The pieces almost look like walking out of a sketchbook.

In June 2009 see has presented her new collection named Bulged Being -a strong /dark animal, inspired by a big bag of rubber rings and details of 30 old wedding dresses, creating a strange bulged silhouette. An extreme piece of this collection is in the WOW Museum Nelson and will be seen in the movie -Lilith-.
