Mijn lezing zal over gaan over het geweld dat inherent is aan de mens en dat politiek tot uiting komt in onder meer racisme, en beeldmatig tot uiting komt in kunst. Meer specifiek heb ik het over het huidige onvermogen met dat geweld lucide om te gaan. Die onmogelijkheid maakt dat geweld alleen maar kwaadaardiger.
Marc de Kesel teaches philosophy at Arteveldehogeschool Gent (Belgium) and is as senior researcher affiliated to Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen and Jan van Eyck Academy Maastricht (both in The Netherlands). Most of his writings concern continental philosophy (Bataille, Lefort, Derrida, Lacan, Zizek e.a.). He is now preparing an English translation of his book on Lacan's seminar on ethics: Eros & Ethics: Reading Jacques Lacan, Séminaire VII.
