Robert Adrian

Robert Adrian (CA/AT) is an artist working with communication technologies.

Robert Adrian (sometimes Robert Adrian X) is a Canadian artist living in Vienna since 1972. He has been working with communication technology since 1979 and initiated and managed the Kunstradio website from 1995 till 2000. He has also continued to work with different media including installation, model making, photography, painting, sculpture and computer. Among other things he is interested in operating with institutional systems and cultural domains and/or penetrating them. He does not see himself as an "activist": he doesn’t believe that art is a very good way to effect changes or is an effective propaganda tool - but he does believe that it is useful for making hidden structures and systems visible. Adrian writes and publishes about the post-industrial revolution and its effects on art and culture.
