Stahl Stenslie is media artist, curator and researcher, and a professor of media art at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and builds installations that work with cognition and perception manipulation. He became one of the founding fathers of Cybersex after he built cyberSM, the world’s first full-body, tele-tactile communication system in 1993. He has been exhibiting at major international events such as ISEA (J), DEAF (NL), Ars Electronica (A) and SIGGRAPH (USA). He has also organized and moderated conferences and frequently gives lectures. In collaboration with Knowbotic Research (D/A) Stenslie founded mem_brane, a media lab for art oriented projects in the field of networks and information systems. His works include the award winning The Leap (1998), sense:less (1996), and the publications Next Sex (2000), The Virtual Dimension (1998) and Zukunft des Körpers (The Future of the Body) (1995).
