YOU Mi 由宓 (Cologne / Beijing) is a curator, researcher and artist. She works as academic staff at Academy of Media Arts Cologne, where she lectures on global arts with a social-political, transhistorical and transcultural perspective. Prior to working at the Academy, she has worked in film and theater with professionals such as LU Chuan, TIM Yip, LIN Zhaohua and Paper Tiger Studio. She has also worked as curator of artistic and urban research projects that were shown in Shenzhen/Hong Kong Bi-City Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (2007), Beijing Design Week (2011,2012), Istanbul Design Biennale (2012), Lisbon Triennale and Athens Biennale (2013).
Her current (artistic) research and curatorial project takes the Silk Road as a figuration for anti-nationalist, de-centralized and nomadic imageries. Under this rubric she is curating a series of performative programs at Asian Culture Center Theater in Gwangju, South Korea in 2016. Additionally, she is writing about digital Confucianism that aims to create an immanent framework for media art and performance. She co-initiated (in 2011) and is committee member of EU-funded project “Transnational Dialogues”, an exchange platform between China, Europe and Brazil.
