The Art of Being Everywhere: ART-DOC-COM BBS

ART-DOC-COM was a BBS (Bulletin Board System) project consisting of a virtual museum which could be visited by telephone, modem and computer by people who were sitting behind their computer at home. The virtual museum could be entered through the 'front door', from the 'hall' different 'rooms' could be visited where one could see or hear works by different artists. Also, software for making music or images could be collected from the 'storage room'. In the 'library' the visitor could read about new media and in the 'conference hall' discussions could be initiated or taken part in. In other words a full fledged space where every current social or cultural function of a museum could be found. Their WWW Site was online in Germany. During the presentation, contact has been established with other European organizations' or artists' BBS's for the exchange of information and the initiation of discussions.
