Blur

Blur is a work by Jairo Gutiérez Feut

Blur

Brüsselerstrasse 6, Köln Porz

The series of works entitled Blur embraces photographs, sculptures and performances. The projects recreate the blurs found in images from Google Street View in public spaces. They explore the significance of blurs as visual elements in our digital interconnected culture, and how their quality and meaning changes when they are displaced from the digital to the physical space. Building facades that are blurred in Google Street View serve as a motive for the sculptures which are based on particular perspectives of the images. The performances are based on images of persons that were completely blurred in Google Street View, they remake their actions as well as their blurs at the same locations where they were when they were photographed by Google. Pictures of blurred faces that are overlaid one over the other form the photography series. It plays with the idea of a collective portrait by blending persons photographed by Google. The results of the on-going projects of Blur are hybrid works that move between the analog and the digital spheres and comment on the influences on each other.
