The One-Way Ticket is a proposition to send one person on a voyage into deep space from where they will not return: the project investigates the exceptional nature of this scenario, and is exhibited as a multi-media installation. The primary focus is the unique experience of the astronaut travelling aboard the spacecraft.

The project is based on Popper's interest in our perception of space as one of the last bastions of discovery. As frontiers for manned exploration are diminishing on Earth and its near surroundings, the one-way trip contrasts the banal paradigms of tourism and refreshes the promise of space for adventure and wonder.

Sending a person, alone, on a one-way journey into space introduces unique and unprecedented human factors to consider. The range of issues spans the logistical, psychological and philosophical.
