Ways of Moving: Tango

The piece “Tango for Us Two/Too” is the result of an investigation on the current practice of Tango, and an opportunity to revisit its underlying codes, including social and discursive frameworks. Following an aim to reframe the limits of aesthetic experiences and the poetics of both web programming languages and tango as choreography.

The first part of the piece introduces Tango as an improvisation based choreography with a set of code which defines random movement on “x” and “y” axis; The second part explores the dialogical nature of Tango, exploring google (mis)translation platform with fragments of texts from interviews with Tango dancers. In the last moment, it is presented an actual Tango performance.

This piece is part of the project Way of moving: Tango [jobcb.github.io/ways_of_moving/index_tango.html], a project realized as part of the Summer Sessions network in a co-production of Untref/Espacio Nixso and V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media, with support of the Creative Industries Fund NL — August to September 2016 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
