On March 19, authors Arjen Mulder and Joke Brouwer received the AICA Certificate for "Dick Raaijmakers: A Monograph." The Dutch branch of the AICA (International Association of Art Critics) will conduct a special program of events in conjunction with the award presentation at the Scheltemacomplex in Leiden.
Speakers included art historian and award juror Kitty Zijlmans and theatrical director Paul Koek. Arjen Mulder accepted the award from Zijlmans.
The AICA Certificate is awarded each year by the Dutch AICA, alternately going to an exhibition, an art institution and a book. The certificate for best book of 2007–2009 will go to V2_’s Dick Raaijmakers monograph. The jury called the book an “impressive monumental monograph on the celebrated Dick Raaymakers, in which his broad, extensive oeuvre is meticulously and insightfully surveyed in close collaboration with the artist.”
V2_ is delighted to have won the AICA Certificate. “The certificate is proof that we have succeeded in our intention of producing a book that is of scholarly quality and yet engrossing,” says coauthor Joke Brouwer. “The nature of the work and our unique collaboration with Dick Raaymakers himself undoubtedly contributed to this.”
