The Tip Top Orchestra is a youthful company of international amateur musicians dedicated to performing twentieth century avant-garde pieces with self-made instruments. The collective is settled in Rotterdam and made it its ethos to reuse obsolete technologies and ideologies within contemporary frameworks without any unnecessary conceptual baggage. The main goal is to play the pieces to life again. The collective is led by conductor Niek Hilkmann. During the event the orchestra will play two pieces. First, at 19:00 the debut of our interpretation of Steve Reich's 'Four Organs', played on 'klangboards' that were designed by Joseph Knierzinger. Later on in the evening the entire orchestra will play Terry Riley's 'In C', a piece with which the orchestra has achieved triumphs before.
