Survival Training
In the context of the MuseumNacht, the museum night of Rotterdam, V2_ opens its doors for a spectacular live performance Survival Training by the Berlin based artist Frank Werner.
The performance highlights Werner's interactive gaming booth Las Familias - a gambling den (2003), which premiered during the recent International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2004. The installation is housed in a small wooden hut reminiscent of fairground shooting booths, the exterior walls of which are tauntingly projected upon by pistol toting matrons. Once inside the house the viewer, or stalker, is confronted by a computerized video game projected on the rear wall. By grabbing the pistol shaped joystick the visitors actively become engaged in a desperate shoot-out to save the planet from a steady stream of traditional home-baked cakes that attack our planet. You are, however, not alone, the women seen on the exterior are inside helping you in your heroic task ... or are they?
In order to launch Survival Training this evening, Frank Werner will give his spectacular performance at 22:00 hours CET.
