In this special Christmas edition of Test_Lab, two teams of philosophers, scientists, chefs and artists will battle in a TV-style cooking competition for supremacy over a remarkable secret ingredient.
Featuring: Oron Catts (SymbioticA, AUS) | Zack Denfeld and Cathrine Kramer (Center for Genomic Gastronomy, US/NO) | Bernard Roelen (Utrecht University, NL) | Clemens Driessen (Wageningen University, NL) | Maurice Petitjean (Chez Mo-i / BAR, NL) | Eefje Timmer (BAR, NL)
Will the turkey be served alive and the ‘body of Christ’ taken much too literal? Can meat be resurrected? Or made from the nonliving? In any case, SymbioticA director Oron Catts - the first person to ever eat lab-grown meat - will host this special edition of Test_Lab on the fact, fiction, hype and mythology of advanced food-technologies. As is custom to Test_Lab, the audience is invited to assess and try everything themselves.
If you are still in the dark about what to serve your guests for Christmas and want to try something radical, you may want a taste of what the more eccentric figures in the lab-grown meat debate will serve in this revolutionary cooking battle.
Test_Lab is a public events series organized by V2_ Institute for the Unstable Media that provides an informal setting for the presentation, demonstration, testing and discussion of artistic research and development.
