"The United States of Americana" is an exhibition by Marshall Weber (1992).
Marshall Weber contributed to the San Francisco Festival with an exhibition entitled The United States of Americana. He also did two performances: T.V. Tumor and Auto-Cannibal.
T.V. Tumor was a thirty-minute video performance that commented upon the medium of television in the United States and the ideology spread by commercial television station. The performance offered strategies for dealing with such manipulation. Weber used a 26-cm television set with antenna, mounted on the performer's shoulder together with a Video-8 camcorder. The performance combined four elements: an edited videotape, interaction between the performer and the images on the television, live registration of the audience and live television programs. These images seemed to be pulled and pushed out and in the head of the performer.
