V2_Community Invites: Effective Altruism Rotterdam

You are invited to a lively discussion on the subjects of cause prioritisation and career choice. If you want to do good (that's what Effective Altruism promotes), you still need to know what the best starting point is. Together we will try to find out.

Effective Altruism Discussion Evening

Effective Altruism is a movement that tries to do good, better. The movement advocates to use both the brain (reason / evidence) and the heart (compassion) to see where you can have the biggest positive impact. What causes in the world are most pressing? Which is most dire? And how can you use your career to do as much good as possible?

In an attempt to address these questions, the organisation 80.000 hours does research and gives advice on which career choice can do the most good. During this first meeting, we will discuss an element of their career advice, namely the one on world's most pressing problems; and how to use your career in order to work on them. For more information see this article: https://80000hours.org/career-guide/world-problems/
