Klankvorm is a new series of nightly ventures that promotes and initiates novel collaborations between sound artists and visual artists. The programme features exciting, radical, and explorative audiovisual performances. For the fourth edition Klankvorm presents a truly unique line up consisting of a performance by Nicky Assmann and Robert Pravda in which prismatic colors are created by burning copper panels, a new performance by Telcosystems that focuses on machine vision and experimental forms of image interpretation, and an analogue audiovisual performance by Kasia Justka. This Klankvorm edition is hosted by V2_ Community.

Doors: 20.00, First act: 20.30, Entrance €10,-

Klankvorm

Klankvorm is a Rotterdam-based platform for the realisation and presentation of experimental audiovisual art. Klankvorm events take place in different locations and feature audiovisual performances and related presentations. Klankvorm aims to initiate, commission and present new works together with sound artists and visual artists who collaboratively explore the audiovisual domain.

V2_Community

V2_ launched the V2_Community initiative in order to connect the many artists, hackers, tinkerers, inventors and philosophers in V2_'s network and see how V2_ can provide a platform to grow, experiment, prototype and share work. Nicky Assmann & Robert Pravda - Dante’s Circle

A hybrid installation / performance

Dante’s Circle is a collaborative audiovisual performance by Nicky Assmann and Robert Pravda in which continuously changing prismatic colors are created by burning copper panels with automated burners. The panels are positioned in a circular spatial setup and played as a live instrument. The sounds coming from the burners and heated plates are used as a source for the soundscape. This soundscape is further spatialized by means of a rotating loudspeaker setup which is placed at the center of the installation. The copper plates function as both the screens for the prismatic visuals as well as the acoustic reflectors for the projected sounds coming from the circle. As artifacts of the performance six burned copper screens will remain.

Telcosystems - Machine Visions

Vision has become increasingly the terrain of machines. Machines are looking and sensing more and more for us and develop rapidly from passive to active and autonomous agents, through analysis, interpretation and machine learning. The way we view ourselves and the way we perceive the world is changing greatly under the influence of these developments. Machine Visions is a research project into machine vision and experimental forms of image interpretation and analysis. The source material for this project is a collection of high resolution digitalized celluloid images of the earth, made by CIA's secret satellite program in the 1960s. In retrospect, this program paved the way for a revolution in the field of machine vision, which in the last decade has led to large-scale deployment of self-monitoring technologies such as autonomous drones and self learning security cameras. Telcosystems is a Rotterdam based experimental art collective consisting of Gideon Kiers, David Kiers and Lucas van der Velden. Through their works they explore the interaction and integration of human expression and programmed machine behavior. This is manifested in their immersive audio-visual installations, as well as in films, videos, soundtracks, prints and live performances.

Kasia Justka - ElectroCute

Berlin based multi media artist Kasia Justka will present her work Electrocute at Klankvorm #4. Her work capitalises on her obsessions with the medium of electricity. Her art can be seen as invocations to the vast power inherent within electronic systems and networks. With this conceptual frame in mind Kasia fashions a dynamic order and form from primitive entropy. Using light, sound and image as her tools, her Intuitive and analogue based performances have led to collaborations with musicians, theaters, clubs, fashion designers, artists and a whole host of other respected luminaries working in different disciplines within the creative spectrum. Among these are: Electrovision London, Noise=Noise,Transvisualia, Free Form Festival, CynetArt_08, Unsound Festival, Warsaw Electronic Festival, gallery Zacheta, WRO, TR Warszawa, Volksbuhne and others.

Klankvorm is kindly supported by Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie and Gemeente Rotterdam.
