Smart Textiles are a new trend on the intersections of fashion, art and technology, where innovative materials and electronics are integrated in a textile carrier. Artists and designers are bringing textiles to life using movement, light and sound and thus they visualise their views on contemporary culture. Pretty Smart Textiles brings together for the first time e-textiles made by young artists and designers in the Netherlands. The exhibition is an initiative of Stichting Villanuts, and is curated by Melissa Coleman and Dorith Sjardijn.
The exhibition will feature many V2_ related artworks and artists. Piem Wirtz will give a lecture in which she will sketch the breadth of the field of electronic textiles and will raise a number of critical questions. Intimacy and Media Vintage will be part of the exhibition and various E-Textile Workspace participants will show their work.
