New Book: Giving and Taking

A new book on why art is made, the genetic drive to create, and non-pecuniary values. Forthcoming in May 2014.

Giving and Taking is a collection of essays and interviews about autonomy in art, the question why art is made, the genetic drive to create, non-pecuniary values in art and society, economy, and the gift. In short, it is about the quest to find the living kernel that keeps the creation of art going. The book features Zygmunt Bauman, Frank vande Veire, Henk Oosterling, Peter Sloterdijk, Lars Spuybroek, Joris Luijendijk, Reimar Shefold, Lewis Hyde, Marcel Hénaff, and Arjen Mulder. Edited by Joke Brouwer and Sjoerd van Tuinen, and published by V2_, it will be available at the DEAF Biennial.
