Bernard Stiegler

Bernard Stiegler is a French philosopher.

Stiegler is the author of more than thirty books, the best known being his groundbreaking three-volume treatise Technics and Time. He has taught philosophy at the University of Technology of Compiègne and is the founder and head of the Institut de Récherche et d’Innovation at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. In 2005 he also founded Ars Industrialis, a political association for the propagation of an industrial politics of the technologies of the mind, and in 2010 he created the Pharmakon.fr school for philosophy in Épineuil-le-Fleuriel in central France. Important recent publications include States of Shock: Stupidity and Knowledge in the 21st Century (2012), The Automatic Society, Vol 1: The Future of Work (2015), and The Age of Disruption: Technology and Madness in Computational Capitalism (2016).
