Ilpo Vaisanen

Ilpo Väisänen is a Finnish musician.

Ilpo Väisänen founded the legendary experimental music duo Panasonic / Pan Sonic in the early ‘90 alongside the late Mika Vainio. Pan Sonic performed in Southbank/Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Barbican, Centre Pompidou, Fondation Cartier, Volksbühne and collaborated with Merzbow, Charlemagne Palestine, Sunn O))) among others. Ilpo Väisänen returned to solo albums on Editions Mego and Raster-Noton’s sublabel Kangaroo.

Ilpo Väisänen is one indivisible, inseparable half of Panasonic / Pan Sonic, a crucial and visionary duo in electronic music for over two decades, from the beginning of the 90s until a few years back, which definitively ceased activities after the irreparable disappearance of its other half, the brilliant musician Mika Vainio.
