Irene Posch

Irene Posch (AT) is a researcher and artist active in the field of new technologies, art and education.

Irene gained a master degree in computer science and media, focusing on experimental media design, at the Vienna University of Technology, University of Applied Arts Vienna and the Middlesex University London. She joined the Ars Electronica Futurelab from 2007 to 2011, working on research and exhibition projects at the intersection of art and technology.

Since 2009 she holds teaching positions at diverse universities in Austria among them the University of Art and Industrial Design Linz and is currently a PhD researcher a the Institute for Design and Assessment of Technology, TU Vienna.

In her recent work she focuses on the integration of current technological development into the fields of art and craft as well as DIY culture and how this can be achieved in an aesthetic and personal fulfilling way, with a strong interest in digital fabrication technologies and their emerging potentials. She also is an active member of the international FabLab community.

Her research and practical work has been presented at international festivals and conferences such as IDC, Mobile HCI, FAB*, FutureEverything,  Re-thinking technology in museums and Ars Electronica.
