Olia Lialina

Olia Lialina (RU) is a pioneer net.artist and theorist.

Olia Lialina is also an experimental film and video critic and curator, and director of the non-commercial partnership CINE FANTOM (experimental film and video screenings, archives of Russian Parallel Cinema and databases).

She finished Moscow State University in 1993 as a journalist and film critic. In the mid 90s, she was one of the organizers of Moscow experimental film club CINE FANTOM. She writes on New Media, Digital Folklore and Vernacular Web. Olia is a net artist, one of net.art pioneers, an Animated Gif Model. Wife of Rockstar. Mother of three. Junior blogger. Since 1999 Professorat Merz Akademie, (New Media Pathway), Stuttgart.

She is the net author and artist for the First Real Net Art Gallery, the Last Real Net Art Museum, the Most Beautiful Web Page, and My Boyfriend Came Back From the War (an interactive domain depicting war-time sentiments). She is  co-authoring the Zombie and Mummy episodes.
