Teresa van Dongen

Teresa van Dongen (1988) is an Amsterdam-based designer.

Teresa van Dongen was always amazed by nature and science, for that reason she chose to study biology. This is where she discovered that there are many secrets of nature that remain almost unknown, and that great developments in the field of science very often don't make it outside the doors of a laboratory. During her scientific education she  never gave up on her creative 'hobbies' like scenography, stage design, sketching and interior architecture. This combination of fascinations led her to apply for the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2010.

Teresa van Dongen is fascinated by light as a translation of energy, the transparency of glass and what it beholds, as well as the physics of movement. She loves to think that it is great to speak the languages of physics, chemistry and biology, but that the greater value lies in collaborations with people that can continue to surprise and inspire one with  knowledge.

Teresa van Dongen graduated cum laude at the Design Academy Eindhoven. Her work was nominated for two awards, the Keep an Eye Grant and the Melkweg Award.
