Raumklang Residency of Robin Koek and Zeno van den Broek

In the last week of March and the first days of April 2018 the sound artists Zeno van den Broek and Robin Koek did a research residency at V2_.

Raumklang is a project focused on creating site-specific sound in physical space. Based on acoustic features Robin Koek and Zeno van den Broek develop interactive binaural sound sculptures with architectonic dimensions.

At V2_ Zeno van den Broek and Robin Koek were doing tests with the Usomo-grid for spatial sound which is installed at the Ground Floor of our space at the Eendrachtsstraat. They were aiming to create immaterial four-dimensional sound sculptures, and focused on the tracking and positioning in relation to the sculptures and space.

Zeno van den Broek and Robin Koek write: Raumklang is currently in a research and prototyping phase. During our 5 day residency at V2 we focused on creating a first virtual sound sculpture. By combining the Usomo system for tracking with Touchdesigner for the virtual environment and Max MSP for the sound synthesis we managed to experience a trajectory of sound for the first time. This enabled us to put our expectations and sensory assumptions to the test. Please use headphones for a better spatial experience.

This video shows the interaction of the visitor and the sound sculpture in our virtual environment, it does not represent the experience of the visitor.

Thanks to V2 and Creative Industries Fund NL for their support.
