Bringing together art, technology and science, STARTS4Water aims to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our times: water management. The expert meeting kicks off a series of STARTS Academy workshops, networking activities, field expeditions and discussions.

STARTS4Water supports artists, researchers, technology experts and other stakeholders in finding a common ground and language to respond to regional water–related challenges. Six European organizations work together in STARTS4Water, V2_ represents the project in the Netherlands. The project’s common denominator will be the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 and especially on SDG 6 ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’ and SDG 14 ‘Life Below Water’, but the issues addressed will be rooted in local and regional realities.

To review the challenges the Netherlands faces in these fields an expert meeting is called at V2_ on 28th of May. Based on this and other European expert meetings’ outcomes, STARTS4Water will launch a call for eleven artistic residencies in July 2021. Two residencies will take place in the Netherlands under the aegis of V2_, starting in September or October 2021.

This is an invite only event.

The STARTS4Water Consortium is lead by Luca School of Arts, and counts on the participation of Cittadellarte Fondazione Pistoletto, (IT), V2_Lab for the Unstable Media (NL), UrbanDig project (GR), UR Institute (HR) and TBA21.

STARTS (Science, Technology & the Arts) is an initiative of the European Commission, launched under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Its purpose is to support collaborations between artists, scientists, engineers and researchers to develop more creative, inclusive, and sustainable technologies.
