The groundfloor of V2_’s building on the Eendrachtsstraat in Rotterdam has been recently transformed into the new V2_Lab space. As part of this reconstruction a new mezzanine was installed and the wall of the groundfloor was opened up with two large windows, providing a view to the inside from street level. The V2_ Lab Show inaugurates this new space that opens up V2_Lab for a wide audience.
Founded in 1997, V2_Lab has initiated and supported the production of artistic projects that interrogate and illuminate contemporary issues in art, science, technology, and society. The mission of V2_Lab is to be an autonomous zone where experiments and collaborations can take place outside of the constraints of innovation agendas or economic and political imperatives. It is internationally recognized for its pioneering role in the hybrid field of ‘electronic arts’ and over the course of its 15-year history has developed into a significant center of excellence in artistic research and development.
