plplpl.pl is an interactive antisurveillance machine. A technoir espionage object originating from the set of La Jetee, Blade Runner or THX1138. A mechanical cluster of wires, displays and cameras, searching for a deviant audience.

plplpl.pl uses the latest technologies from the surveillance industry to observe and record its audience. The behavior of visitors is distinctly analysed, judged and correlated to similar actions of earlier audience members. On the surface of the machine appears an ever expanding and mutating rhyme of alliterating actions, seemingly trapped by digital surveillance algorithms.

However, when a visitor exhibits unusual or deviant behavior, the machine responds in a burst of joy in an ode to the queerness of this visitor.

The four chapters of the installation: scrutiny, synchronicity, singularity and supremacy will be exhibited throughout the Netherlands during 2016 and 2017.

Scrutiny. The machine observes the audience. Tryouts with a focus on computer vision and data gathering. Krux Amsterdam (February 2016), huis Utrecht during the Creative Industries Fund gathering (June 2016) and V2 (September 16th and 17th 2016)

Synchronicity. Correlating the audience's behavior. Official premiere of the machine on location in Amsterdam. (November 2016)

Singularity. The Machine forms opinions about the audience's behavior. In collaboration with the NFestival in Amsterdam. (April 2017)

Supremacy. Judgement. (unknown) page1image12880
