Philip Vermeulen nominated

Philip Vermeulen, whose work has been featured at V2_, has been nominated for the Volkskrant Beeldende Kunst Prijs 2020.

Philip Vermeulen is nominated by Suzanne Swarts, director of Museum Voorlinden. The other nominees are Isabelle Andriessen, Sharelly Emanuelson, Özgür Kar, and Wouter Paijmans. The Volkskrant Beeldende Kunst Prijs is awarded each year to a visual artists younger than 35. The prize is a collaboration between De Volkskrant, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, Rabobank, Foundation Stokroos and the Fund Jaap Harten. The prize consists of 10.000 euro (provided by Rabobank), and 10.000 euro for a book publication (supported by the Fund Jaap Harten). There is also a prize awarded by the public that visits the exhibition at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam (1/2 – 22/3/2020). The winner will be announced in March 2020.

V2_ selected Philip Vermeulen in 2016 to do a Summer Sessions residency at Metamedia in Croatia, and showed his impressive The Physical Rhythm Machine at the V2_Groundfloor in 2018.
